BATTLE CREEK - Two programs that have been used to earning postseason hardware in recent years enjoyed more success as district championships were earned in the Michigan high school state baseball tournaments on Saturday, May 31.

In the Battle Creek area, both Lakeview and Gull Lake came away with titles to lead the results.

Lakeview came into the postseason with an sub-.500 record, an unlikely mark for a program that was in the state semifinals three years ago.

When it came time for the district tournament this year, however, the Spartans puts their regular season behind them.

Lakeview beat Holt in the semifinals and defeated rival Battle Creek Central in the championship game.
