Unranked UTSA eliminated No. 2 seed Texas from the NCAA baseball tournament with a dominant 7-4 victory at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in the Austin Regional on June 1.
Texas was the second top-two school to get eliminated in its home regional after Wright State beat No. 1 seed Vanderbilt 5-4 on Sunday. Gunnar Brown allowed six hits and one earned run with four strikeouts and two walks in five innings pitched for the Roadrunners.
Norris McClure broke the game open early with a two-run home run in the first inning. McClure went 3 for 5 on the evening.
Sunday’s game was a rematch of the Longhorns' 9-7 loss on May 31 to the Roadrunners, which sent Texas to the loser's bracket for a pair of games on June 1. The Longhorns eliminated Kansas State 15-8 in the afternoon and took the field just a short time later to keep their season alive.
The Roadrunners entered the game after having the afternoon off. It was the third meeting between the programs this season, with the Roadrunners winning the previous two.

Final: UTSA 7, Texas 4
In another shocking upset, UTSA has downed the Longhorns for the second time in as many days, this time with a final score of 7-4. Jim Schlossnagle's first season in Austin ends in the regional round.
UTSA leads Texas in ninth inning
Max Belyeu hits a 2-run home run that helped narrow the gap against UTSA with two outs. The Roadrunners lead 7-4.
Kimble Schuessler hits home run for Texas in 8th
Kimble Schuessler hit a solo home run off a pitch from UTSA pitcher Robert Orloski. The Roadrunners still hold a comfortable 7-2 lead with no outs.
Orloski would then hit Adrian Rodriguez with a pitch and put him on first base.
UTSA coach Pat Hallmark came out to talk with Orloski but decided to leave him in the game. Braylon Owens was spotted warming up in the bullpen.
UTSA makes first pitching change in top of sixth
Gunnar Brown's night is done after he threw 70 pitches in just over five innings. He walked Adrian Rodriguez of Texas with a fourth ball called. Brown allowed six hits and one earned run while striking out four and walking two.
Connor Kelley came out of the bullpen as Brown's replacement.
The Longhorns are still struggling to get back on the board against UTSA. Kelley got UTSA through the inning by striking out Will Gasparino while the Longhorns had runners on first and second base.
Texas continues to rotate through pitchers
Freshman pitcher Dylan Volantis comes in to pitch in place of Max Grubbs. Grubbs had thrown an even 30 pitches before Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle made the decision.
Max Grubbs with better showing for Texas in fifth
Grubbs produces a better showing from the plate in his first full inning of the game for the Longhorns. He allowed just one hit as the Roadrunners were scoreless.
Texas scores in the fourth
Back-to-back doubles for the Longhorns produce a positive result. Adrian Rodriguez doubled to deep right to start the inning. Casey Borba's double allows for Rodriguez to score Texas' first run of the game.
USTA leads Texas 7-0 after three
Pitcher Ethan Walker put Texas in a tough situation, allowing USTA to load the bases with two outs in the inning after hitting Caden Miller with a pitch.
Walker would hit a second consecutive batter that would allow UTSA's Caden Miller to take first base and Lorenzo Morresi to score to take a 3-0 lead.
Schlossnagle decides to go with a pitching change, replacing Walker with Max Grubbs.
Hodge hits a bases-clearing double to deep center off Grubbs with two outs. Garrett Gruell, Caden Miller and Jordan Ballin all score for the Roadrunners, who lead the game 6-0.
Hodge would score off an RBI single from Mason Lytle before the inning concluded.
UTSA continues to hold Texas scoreless through three
Rylan Galvan of Texas comes up on the wrong end of a risky play, trying to tag up from second before running to third with two outs and getting caught.
"Rylan was trying to hang out there and when he was trying to go back, there was no need to go," Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle said during the ESPN broadcast.
Texas switches pitchers in the second inning
Ethan Walker comes in as the Longhorns' new pitcher, replacing Hudson Hamilton.
Walker and the Longhorns did enough to keep the Roadrunners scoreless in the inning, leaving two runners on base.
The pitcher struck out two runners but did allow a walk after hitting Ty Hodge with a pitch.
Gunnar Brown continues to work for UTSA
Pitcher Gunnar Brown struck out Will Gasparino and Jalin Flores of Texas in the inning. Jonah Williams recorded a hit for the Longhorns. Brown and the Roadrunners managed to get out of the inning after Casey Borba grounded out to third.
