L ast month, Gilbert Public Schools and Higley Unified School District ushered a total 3,967 high school seniors into a world of new experiences and possibilities.

And among those possibilities, some graduates are opting to serve their country.

In interviews with the Gilbert Sun News, some of those newly minted grads discussed why they were picking a military way of life.

GPS grads Evelyn Frost and Wyatt Standage started early: both were cadets in the district’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program.

So too did Higley High graduates Madison Wilson and Hunter Jones, who participated in HUSD’s Air Force JROTC program.

Evelyn, 18, who graduated from Campo Verde High, is heading to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
