Former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox announced Tuesday he is officially running for governor, becoming the third Republican candidate to enter the 2026 race.
“Eight years of Gretchen Whitmer has made Michigan weaker, poorer, and less free. Enough,” Cox said in a social media post , referencing the Democratic governor who cannot seek reelection due to term limits.
“I’m running to be your governor, and together, we can Make Michigan Great Again,” he said, echoing the language of President Donald Trump.
