The Gaston County Board of Commissioners passed a budget that maintains the same property tax rate as the year prior but reduces funding for a service that supports victims of domestic violence and requires that the Gaston County Museum of Art and History repay the county a portion of its funding.

The budget for the 2026 fiscal year keeps the current tax rate – which is at its lowest point since at least 1970 – at 59.9 cents per $1
