ATLANTA — Trevor Story had a three-run double in the first inning and Garrett Crochet struck out 12 in seven innings of one-run ball, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.
The loss doomed the Braves to a fourth straight series defeat — they went 1-2 in Philadelphia, 1-2 at home against San Diego and 0-2 in Washington in the three series leading up to this weekend's 1-2 showing at home against the Red Sox.
Atlanta is now 27-31, 9.5 games back in the NL East and 5.5 back in the Wild Card race, ahead of only three other teams currently in the National League.
