A group of HOPE, Inc. participants are getting a front-row seat to the hard work of acting and live theater, thanks to a community collaboration with Theatre B.
Now in its fourth year, the Theatre B Adaptive Theatre Showcase supports HOPE’s mission to bring adaptive sports and recreation to people with disabilities by providing a unique program that teaches improvisation, storytelling and character creation on a stage instead of on a court or field.
The result, according to Theatre B’s Managing Director Monika Brown-Ecker, is a theatrical experience that is equally spontaneous, funny and touching for audience members.
“I think we’ve all said it, but we get as much out of coaching the showcase as the participants,” she said. “Maybe even a little more.”
