ST PAUL, Minn. — A veteran forward who has skated parts of four seasons in Minnesota is coming back to the Wild after signing a one-year, cap-friendly deal.
The team announced Monday that winger Marcus Johansson, an unrestricted free agent following the 2024-25 campaign, agreed to a contract that will pay him $800,000 for the upcoming season. Johansson, 34, collected 11 goals and 23 assists for 34 points, skating mostly on the Wild's second line.
Johansson has played 15 seasons in the NHL, with 517 career points in 983 games with Washington, New Jersey, Boston, Buffalo, Seattle, Washington and Minnesota.
While still a skilled player at this point in his career, some may question the wisdom of bringing back Johansson, as his lack of grit makes him a poor fit for the bottom six of Wild fo
