Friends of Mercer Island City Councilmember Jake Jacobson hosted a remembrance event for him on May 31 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. He had passed away on March 31 of this year. A crowd of 300 well-wishers attended, as well as many dozens of people who watched the event via a YouTube livestream.
The event featured a 20-minute photo tribute to Councilmember Jacobson, followed by nearly a dozen speakers, including Mayor Salim Nice, college and law school classmates, fellow Vietnam War veterans, the local bishop for Jacobson’s Mormon church, and the president of Osborne Construction Company, where Jacobson served as an officer and director for many years.
