AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A rideshare became a nightmare Sunday in Akron when police say two passengers robbed a Lyft driver of his vehicle.
According to police, it happened before 3:16 a.m. as the driver was already giving two women a ride.
Officers say the driver had stopped in the 2200 block of 25th Street SW to pick up two men as additional passengers.
On the way to their destination, according to police, one of the men pulled out a gun and ordered the driver and women out of the car.
That’s when police say the suspects took off in the victim’s Honda Civic.
But thanks to traffic cameras and a cellphone left inside the car, police were able to track down the vehicle.
Police say it was recovered in the 800 block of Kickapoo Avenue.
The suspects, on the other hand, remain on the loose.
