CINCINNATI (WXIX) - At this point last year, I would have been surprised to learn that Chase Burns was going to be the Reds’ pick with their No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 MLB Draft. Drafting Burns wasn’t an obvious pick at the time, but now you wonder how it wasn’t clear all along that Burns was the right option for the Reds in the first round.

In Double-A, Cincinnati Reds top prospect Chase Burns is overwhelming his competition. Through seven starts, the 22-year-old has a 1.54 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 35 innings. Burns has only allowed six earned runs, and he has only issued four walks.
