EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The City of Evansville has announced the launch of a new program aimed at providing accessible transportation to the city's youth.
Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry announced the launch of the "My Sumer Ride" program, which will provide free METS bus rides to all students and individuals 18 and under this summer.
From June 2 through Aug 2, anyone under the age of 18, as well as students over 18 who are still enrolled in high school, can ride METS for free.
As part of the City’s Safe Summer initiative, My Summer Ride was created to reduce transportation barriers that often prevent young people from accessing jobs, summer programs, libraries, parks, and other vital community resources.
“This program is about more than just transportation,” Mayor Stephanie Terry
