1WASHINGTON, D.C. — An 18-year-old teen was critically injured Thursday afternoon in a shooting in the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood, prompting a citywide search for the suspect and two people of interest, the Metropolitan Police Department announced Friday.

At approximately 3:53 p.m. on May 30, First District officers responded to the 400 block of M Street SW after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was conscious and breathing at the scene.

DC Fire and EMS provided immediate aid and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in treatment for life-threatening injuries.
