FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - An attempted murder charge could be dismissed for a Fort Wayne man who pleaded guilty in connection with a fight that escalated into a double shooting in 2023.
Jose Mendoza, 31, pleaded guilty to battery and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, according to Allen Superior Court documents filed Monday.
Mendoza is accused of shooting a man in the arm as he walked out of the bar portion of a restaurant on Fairfield Avenue formerly known as Las Lomas Mexican Grill. According to court documents in the case, two groups of people had gotten into a physical fight, causing security at the bar to escort several people out.
That's when Mendoza allegedly shot a man in the arm outside the bar, according to court documents. A security guard also fired
