Before launching his music career earlier this year, Xav Trudeau, the oldest son of former prime minister Justin Trudeau, flew mostly under the public’s radar.
But with three tracks already released and piling up plays — his debut, Til the Nights Done , just eclipsed 100,000 on Spotify and 170,000 on YouTube — Xav is starting to come to their attention.
The feedback is not always positive, however.
“When I started releasing music… I get so much hate on social media just because of who my dad is,” the 17-year-old R&B singer-rapper admitted during a broad interview on Toronto-based entertainment podcast The Brandon Gonez Show.
“If you don’t like the music, just keep scrolling. You can comment if you want, it’s only going to help my algorithm.”
