After receiving a report regarding a small aircraft crash on Lake Washington in Renton on the afternoon of June 1, the Mercer Island Police Department (MIPD) Marine Patrol Unit responded to the scene near Renton Municipal Airport. No injuries were reported.

The Island unit, along with members of the Renton Fire Department, promptly responded to the area of the single-engine wreck at approximately 2:30 p.m.

According to a MIPD press release, the privately owned aircraft reported mechanical issues while attempting takeoff from the airport and made an emergency landing in the water at the north end of the airfield.

“The pilot and a passenger of the aircraft were uninjured and out of the plane upon arrival. They were evaluated by first responders on the scene,” MIPD said.
