A Pearl River man with a lengthy criminal record has been sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of multiple domestic violence charges.

State Judge Tara Zeller of the 22nd Judicial District handed four life sentences to Angelo Russo, 50, on Friday, northshore District Attorney Collin Sims' office said in a news release. A St. Tammany Parish jury had convicted Russo in March of domestic abuse battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse battery by strangulation, domestic abuse aggravated assault and false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon, the DA's office said.

Russo was also sentenced to 20 years for obstruction of justice by witness tampering, authorities said. The sentences will run concurrent with each other.
