AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Amarillo police are spreading awareness to the dangers of street racing while raising funds for a local nonprofit.

The Amarillo Police Department will hold its third annual Race A Cop event to help spread awareness for street racing.

Drunk driving is not the only dangerous vehicle crime impacting people on the roads.

Street racing has also become an issue for Amarillo police.

To help deter street racing, the Amarillo Police Department is asking people to bring their hot rods and bikes out to Amarillo Dragway.

Racers will have an opportunity to race an Amarillo police interceptor, while raising funds for the Amarillo Student Crime Stoppers.
