Missouri is not assisting Arkansas yet in the manhunt to find the “Devil in the Ozarks.”

Simply put, Missouri has not been asked to help find Grant Hardin, the 56-year-old former Arkansas police chief who escaped from prison more than a week ago.

The search is being led by the FBI and U.S. Marshal’s offices in Little Rock, with help from local law enforcement agencies in Arkansas.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells Missourinet so far, they have not been asked to pitch in but stand ready to help if asked. The same goes for sheriff’s offices in Missouri counties that border Arkansas.

Howell County deputies say they’ve received reports of sightings of Hardin that turned out to be false.

Hardin is serving a 30-year-sentence for first-degree murder and a 50-year sentence for rape.
