ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)---The legislative session is set to end later this month. Two controversial bills have a chance of becoming law.

For several years, some lawmakers have been trying to pass a bill known as Medical Aid in Dying. It would allow a mentally capable adult with a terminal illness and six months or less to live to have the option to request a prescription which would allow them to die.

Advocates say it will help with suffering and lets a person die peacefully. While it passed in the Assembly, it remains to be seen if the bill will be voted on in the Senate.

"That one is still very much up in the air," said Senator Pat Fahy. "It has a good bit of support, but I’m still hearing a number of concerns about it."
