LORAIN, Ohio (WOIO) - Lorain Police are investigating after officers found two people dead of “apparent” gunshot wounds in what police are calling a murder suicide.
According to a release from Lorain Police, officers were called to the 200 block of W 29th Street around 10 p.m. Saturday after concerned family members asked for a welfare check.
The release said Lorain Police found 63-year-old Anthony Coonrod and 31-year-old Emily Simmons dead with apparent gunshot wounds.
Police told 19 News on Monday they believe Simmons killed Coonrod first in this murder-suicide.
“Initial information gathered suggests the case may be a possible murder-suicide,” the release said. “No outside suspects are being sought at this time.”
Coonrod had just retired in September from the Lorain County Sheriff’s
