FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Juliette London said she worked in the medical industry for nearly 30 years before her disabilities crippled her way of living. The Spotsylvania County resident never wanted to rely on food assistance programs , but for now, the help is a lifeline.

She and several other recipients of SNAP benefits, formerly known as food stamps, joined a roundtable discussion with Sen. Tim Kaine, (D-Va.) The federal lawmaker is seeking input from his constituents about the House GOP-backed tax bill that could slash funding to SNAP by 20%, nearly $300 billion through the next decade.
