Antonio Delgado, New York’s lieutenant governor, announced he will run for governor in the state, setting up a bitter Democratic primary battle against the person who appointed him: Gov. Kathy Hochul.

In his campaign launch video on Monday, the former congressman highlighted his upbringing in Schenectady, New York, and called for “bold, decisive, and transformational” leadership. While his announcement didn’t mention Hochul by name, Delgado mentioned New York’s housing affordability crisis and legal fights the state faced from the Trump administration in what he suggests is retaliation for its liberal policies.
