FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- Allen County prosecutors filed a level-five count of Reckless Homicide against a Fort Wayne man Monday, months after a teen died from a gunshot wound in the 2900 block of Winter Street.

Fort Wayne Police said Davion M. Vaughn-Foster, 26, mishandled a handgun, which resulted in the death of his niece, Myuanna Foster-Juarez on August 15, 2024.

The next day, the Allen County Coroner's Office ruled the shooting a homicide.

In the probable cause document, FWPD Detective Brian Martin quoted a witness he spoke with on August 16, 2024, who was upstairs in the home, adding Vaughn-Foster was expected as a guest.
