CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - The Canyon high school athletic teams performed very well this year, bringing home eight state championship titles as well as a district championship back to the school.
The “Play for the C” mentality is alive and well at Canyon, and the boys athletic coordinator, Todd Winfrey, says the idea of everyone as a family is a huge part of why the school is so successful in athletics.
“The ‘Play for the C’ mentality is a family deal,” he said. “Around here, we don’t just support each other, we help raise each other. I mean that’s the reality of it. We as coaches feel like we’ve helped raise a whole bunch of kids and it’s relationships...that’s all this business is...that’s what it’s all about.
