Gastonia leaders recently agreed to establish a senior council that will act as a voice and be a point of contact for the city’s senior citizens.

Councilwoman Jennifer Stepp, who represents ward five, said she has been advocating to create a council like it for years ever since she met several seniors at the city’s adult recreation center who wanted a way to get involved in the community.
