LARAMIE — Tyce Westland’s name didn’t come up often during the University of Wyoming’s spring portion of the season, but it wasn’t for a lack of effort.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive end has merely grown into such a reliable player that second-year coach Jay Sawvel knows exactly what to expect out of him going into his senior season.

When Westland’s name did come up, it was in reference to how many snaps certain players would see during last month’s Brown and Gold spring game.

“There will be a few guys that’ll have a very low pitch count. You know, the Tyce Westlands of the world,” Sawvel said. “He’s having a great spring.”

Westland is one of just two returning starters on the Cowboys’ defense, joining fellow defensive lineman Ben Florentine. The rising senior appeared in 11 games
