With a budget passed, Catawba County will not see a property tax increase next year. The budget did include cuts to funding to Newton-Conover City Schools’ construction of Newton-Conover High School.
The Catawba County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the budget of $338,705,936 for fiscal year 2025-2026 at Monday night’s county commission meeting.
The budget will go into effect July 1.
The adopted budget is similar to the one County Manager Mary Furtado presented to commissioners May 12. At that meeting, Furtado proposed a budget of about $345 million.
Highlights of the budget include spending $62,460,516 on human services, $59,1971,42 on public safety and $53,321,026 for education current expense funding.
