Mississippi State baseball announced Sunday the hiring of college baseball great Brian O'Connor as their next head coach.

O'Connor, a Council Bluffs native, joins the Bulldogs after spending 20 seasons at the University of Virginia.

During his tenure at UVA, O'Connor helped the Cavaliers win the College World Series in 2015.

O'Connor will now turn a new page and try to help MSU get back to dominance. O'Connor is now the program's 19th head coach.
