TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A 12-year-old shot a 13-year-old in Toledo, police said, which led to a criminal charge against the gun owner.
According to Toledo Police, officers responded to the hospital for a walk-in gunshot wound on Jan. 29. The teen had been shot in the leg.
According to the police report, the juveniles were playing video games when one went upstairs to grab a gun and show the other. It was determined that a 12-year-old was trying to take a firearm out of the victim’s pocket when it went off at a residence on the 1100 block of Palmwood.
The boy was taken into custody and charged with felonious assault.
The owner of the unsecured firearm, 27-year-old Jocelyn Benton, is being charged with child endangerment. She pleaded not guilty on June 2 and she is scheduled to be back in
