Babe Ruth, born George Herman 'Babe' Ruth Jr. on Feb. 6, 1895, made his Major League Baseball debut on July 11, 1914. Ruth went on to play 22 seasons, 10 World Series and hit 714 home runs before his retirement on June 2, 1935. On Aug. 16, 1948, The Great Bambino died in New York City after a battle with cancer.
