NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) -- A man was arrested on Monday after a woman's body was found dead inside a Newport News residence in late April.

According to police, 30-year-old David Anderson was arrested on Monday, June 2, for the homicide of 28-year-old Imani Parrish. Anderson was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the incident.

On April 30, just before 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Antrim Drive for reports of an unresponsive person. Upon arrival to the scene, officers found Parrish not breathing. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Parrish's cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Anderson was taken into custody without incident following an investigation.
