ROCKVILLE, Md. — Montgomery County launched Pride Month in a powerful, heartfelt way on Tuesday morning with its seventh annual Pride flag raising ceremony. The event, held at Veterans Memorial Plaza in Rockville, brought together local leaders, advocates and residents to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, and to reaffirm the county’s unwavering commitment to equity and inclusion.

The ceremony was hosted by Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and Councilmember Evan Glass, the first openly LGBTQ+ member of the county council. Arriving aboard the county’s vibrant, Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride-wrapped “#RideWithPride” Ride On bus, speakers and officials gathered under rainbow skies (and cloudy ones too) to mark the start of Pride Month.
