AUBURN – The individual shot in an officer-involved shooting in Auburn on the evening of June 1, 2025, has been identified as Kyle Leins, 44, of Auburn. Preliminary information indicates that Mr. Leins was shot after allegedly presenting a gun and firing at Auburn Police Officers. He is currently recovering from surgery at a local hospital.

The incident unfolded at approximately 6:30 p.m. when DeKalb County dispatch received a call reporting a male who had entered a residence in the 300 block of W. 11th Street in Auburn and pointed a gun at a subject. Auburn Police Department officers responded to the location, but the man had already fled the area.
