FORT WORTH, Texas — Advocates say the only daily train connecting North Texas to Oklahoma City faces "imminent service suspension" by this fall after funding for it wasn't included in the $338 billion budget Texas lawmakers approved.
Texas Rail Advocates say the Heartland Flyer , a 206-mile route connecting Fort Worth and Oklahoma City that's been in operation since 1999, faces service suspension no later than Oct. 1 after Texas lawmakers pulled annual funding for it from the budget. Texas Rail Advocates says Texas' $338 billion spending bill won final passage from lawmakers last week and was sent to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts to be certified before heading to Gov. Greg Abbott for review.
