Rep. Mike Flood is reacting positively to the news that the Trump administration plans to hire more than 100 positions at the National Weather Service.

Flood said he reached out to NWS and lobbied the White House to fill staff vacancies in the Omaha area that had forced the agency to scale back operations.

"With this hiring initiative, the White House is addressing challenges present in the Biden years that were augmented after some staff took buyouts in recent months," Flood said. "Hiring these positions will help ensure that the agency is able to deliver information the public relies on across the nation to stay safe amid severe weather."
