COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus Police Department's Special Operations Unit led a targeted effort yesterday which led to the arrest of 6 people and the recovery of weapons, and 172 grams of drugs.
Police say multiple traffic stops and seizures were the result of their operation. Officers say they recovered 5 firearms, 172 grams of marijuana, scales and packaging materials that are used for distribution purposes.
Six people were arrested, two who were confirmed gang members, facing charges including:
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
• Theft by Receiving (Firearm)
• Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
• Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18
• Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
