Sinkhole closes part of Virginia Street in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Part of Virginia Street is closed in Evansville due to a large sinkhole.

On Tuesday, the City of Evansville said Virginia Street had been closed in both directions just east of Willow Street due to a pavement failure.

City crews are currently on-scene working to excavate and repair the issue, but officials say the closure will remain in place until Wednesday at the earliest.
