DOVER — After weeks of waiting, legislators have unveiled the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control fee package, which raised or added 150 new environmental fees — but it does not generate as much revenue as discussed earlier.

When Gov. Matt Meyer unveiled his “budget reset” back in March , he included various increases in permit fees that would generate $6.68 million. The bill filed by Rep. Debra Heffernan (D-Bellefonte) and the Democratic leadership offers a scaled-back version that would generate $5.3 million in permit fees.

The compromise comes weeks after DNREC Secretary Greg Patterson met with several business leaders and construction trade groups in his first 100 days in office, including the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce . That move helpe
