UTICA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Nobody disputed that inmate Robert Brooks was murdered, but defense attorneys representing correction officers did dispute each of their clients' level of involvement in the overall violence.

Three officers appeared in Oneida County Court for arguments that allowed each defense attorney to dispute the charges for the first time.

In court, the defense for Correction Officer Mathew Galliher asked for the charges to be dismissed based on insufficient evidence and false testimony given to the grand jury.

Attorney Kevin Luibrand said: "This is a very dangerous case for Mr. Galliher, who didn't strike anybody, because he gets caught up in the indictment and in process with the people with whom he was grouped."
