FARGO — A Trump administration decision to pause a program that helps train young underserved adults for careers has left the organization’s lone employee in Fargo without a job.
The future of Job Corps’ North Dakota branch remains uncertain as it prepares to close at the end of the month, an official with the group said.
Bryce Young, a career transition specialist for Job Corps in Fargo, told The Forum that he was laid off Tuesday, June 3, as a result of the U.S. Labor Department’s announcement. The federal agency said Thursday it would implement a “phased pause in operations” for Job Corps, with centers across the country ceasing work by June 30.
