NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The Nebraska Wheat Board met for the first time since state auditor Mike Foley released a report noting that the board overpaid for meals and travel expenses. Thank you for joining us on NTV News.

In the report issued a few weeks ago, Foley noted that the wheat board spent over $9,000 in 2023 and over $2,000 in the first two months of 2025 on meals.

The wheat board says this is a misunderstanding and encourages people to look at the actual audit rather than Foley’s press release.

They noted that no public taxpayer dollars were spent for their expenditures.

“The funds that the Wheat Board utilizes for their research, marketing, promotion, education, all of those are producer dollars,” Royce Schaneman, Nebraska Wheat Board Executive Director, said.
