Union Commonwealth University might be located in Barbourville, Ky., about 60 miles and a couple of counties to the east. But its president, Dr. DJ Washington, was impressed enough by the Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce that he wants to be a part of it.

“I thank you for leading with purpose. I thank you for leading with passion. I thank you for all of the efforts that you do,” said Washington, who went on to say that Union should became a Chamber member if they weren’t already. “... From the moment I walked in the door, I was just well-greeted and (there were) so many warm welcomes and smiles and great handshakes, and I want to just tell you thank you for allowing Union to be part of such an amazing community as you have here.”
