Paul Skenes possesses one of the more interesting warmup routines of any starting pitcher in Major League Baseball. One of his drills includes throwing a football, quite different than throwing his fastball over 100 miles per hour over the plate. Skenes usually performs a drop back before floating the ball into the air.

Nothing was different on Tuesday as the Pittsburgh Pirates got set to host the Houston Astros. MLB Network showcased Skenes’ routine and got footage of him throwing a football. They even took a jab at the Pittsburgh Steelers along the way, joking about their quarterback situation.
