BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — If you’ve seen construction crews tearing up streets near downtown Bismarck, that is because the city is replacing nearly two miles of aging water mains in a $3 million infrastructure project.
At the City of Bismarck, City Engineer Gabe Schell said the project is funded primarily through the utility rates, as well as a grant from the North Dakota Department of Water Resources.
That means local property owners won’t see any special assessments. Instead, the cost is covered by the utility fees residents already pay and outside grant funding.
The work covers 24 blocks of underground pipe, roughly 10,000 feet in a residential and commercial area north of Main Avenue and west of Washington Street.
