BOISE, Idaho — Boise first responders rescued a woman from a canal near Rose Hill Street on Tuesday evening after reports of a person in the water. The next day, officials reported that the woman had died.

The Boise Fire Department reported that emergency responders were called to a canal near West Rose Hill and Ruby Street around 7:51 p.m. Crews immediately began searching the water and canal banks.

Firefighters located and rescued a woman in the canal near Latah Street. Boise Fire said she received medical care at the scene before being transported to a local hospital. She later died.

"Initial reports indicated a possible second victim, but after an extensive search, no additional individuals were found," Boise Fire wrote in a news release.
