TULSA, Okla. (KFDA) - The Tulsa Drillers defeated the Amarillo Sod Poodles, 5-0, on Tuesday.
The game was delayed by rain. First pitch was at 9:10 p.m., over two hours after the original 7:05 start time.
Tulsa’s bid for a no-hitter lasted until the second-to-last Amarillo at-bat. Gavin Conticello singled on a ground ball in the top of the 7th to give the Sod Poodles their only hit of the game.
Peter Heubeck threw 5 2/3 innings without allowing a hit, picking up his first win of the season in the effort. Alec Baker took the loss for Amarillo, his second of the season.
With the win, Tulsa improves to 23-39 on the season, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. Amarillo falls to 21-31 overall.
The series continues in Tulsa at ONEOK Field on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. CST.
