A mother and her son were arrested for providing false information to deputies during the investigation of a teen's stabbing, according to the Volusia Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the stabbing all started after a fight.

The suspect lost a fight at school and was accused of jumping and stabbing the person he lost to on the way home, VSO said.

It happened near Courtland Boulevard and Hanford Drive, about a half-mile from Heritage Middle School.

Volusia Sheriff's Office shared a body cam video where you can see the teen victim collapse immediately, and the deputy jumps into action.

Detectives said they were able to tie the suspect to the stabbing using cell phone data and other evidence.
