PITTSBURGH, PA (WTRF)— A patient transfer error between two UPMC hospitals left a local family shaken after a woman found a stranger in the hospital bed assigned to her mother and wearing her mother’s hospital wristband.

News outlets say, Rae Corrado said she was waiting for her mother, Gloria Corrado, to be transferred from UPMC Presbyterian to UPMC Mercy Rehab on Friday. Hours later, Rae was informed her mother had arrived. But when she went to the room, she found a different woman in the bed, wearing a wristband labeled with Gloria Corrado’s name.
