City of Amarillo continues to install digital water meters across town

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Residents will soon to be able to better monitor water use with the City of Amarillo’s digital water meter project .

Assistant City Manager Floyd Hartman says water will be turned off for about 30 minutes while crews continue to install those meters across town.

“Human error is a component in meter reading that is removed after we have this system setup and identify, it does minimize those errors and accuracy within the billing system itself. Once the system is built out,” said Hartman.

The project began in 2023 to increase accuracy in meter reads and monitor unusual water use.
